A new banking hub has opened in Cumnock, ahead of the closure of the town's final branch next month.

Councillor Neill Watts for Cumnock & New Cumnock shared the opening on his social media pages, with the hub open five days a week.

Specialist advisors for different banks will be at the hub on different days, although all banks can be serviced there.

Cumnock's final bank branch is due to close next month, as the Bank of Scotland on Townhead Street shuts.

An initial closure date of the branch had been set for February 12, 2024, but that was later pushed back until May 29.

A further delay meant the closure is set to take place on Wednesday, June 26, to give more time for the planned banking hub to open in the area.

Located at Cumnock library, the hub will be open:

  • Monday 9am-5pm
  • Tuesday 9.30am-5pm
  • Wednesday 9.30am-5pm
  • Thursday 11am-6pm
  • Friday 9.30am-4pm

The current hub is only set to be a temporary measure, until a permanent hub is set up.

The hub will allow customers to pay in cash and cheques, withdraw cash, check your balance, pay utility bills and top up on gas and electricity.

According to signage at the hub, Mondays will have specialist advisors from Virgin Money, Tuesdays for Royal Bank of Scotland, Wednesdays for TSB, Thursdays for Bank of Scotland and Fridays for Santander.

It gave me great pleasure to attend the opening of the temporary Banking Hub in Cumnock Library this morning at Rothesay...
