Woodroad Park and Leisure Group will be bringing back its fun day, following on from the success of its first last year.

The group, created to draw people back to the once-popular summer hotspot in Cumnock, will look to make this year's event bigger and better.

Woodroad Park and Leisure Group, in conjunction with Cumnock Action Plan 2022 and beyond, have plans to bring people and the families back to the park, and upgrade the facilities on offer through time.

Cumnock Chronicle:

Last year's event, held in July, saw various local organisations, groups and local facilities come together to hold the event.

The new group is being chaired by Cumnock and New Cumnock Councillor, Neill Watts, who has been vocal about his hopes of improving the vision of Woodroad Park for a long time.

This year's event will take place on Sunday, August 18.

Cumnock Chronicle:

Speaking about the planned event, Cllr Watts said: "It will be much the same as last year’s event. We ended up with around 18 local organisations, so this year we want to expand that as much as we can.

"Because we’ve got some money we’ve got a Public Entertainment License, so we’re looking at what else we can do.

"This year we need to have some extra like bouncy castle or something like that just to draw people.

"The whole idea of days like these are to get people back to the Woodroad and showing potential investors that there is a desire for the area to be used."

More information about this event, and other things happening at the park, will be posted on the Woodroad Park & Leisure Group Facebook page.
