Cumnock Chronicle: Hillside

Sick vandals caused £3,500 worth of damage to playground equipment at Hillside special needs school in Cumnock. Head Teacher Jim McCaffrey, pictured, said: “Accessing the school simply for the reasons of mindless destruction leaves me short on words at how angry and shocked everyone is.”

GP Karen Lowry and Senior Practice Nurse Jacquie Stewart, from Tanyard Medical Practice, were preparing to take on the Three Peaks Challenge in 2009, climbing Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis in 36 hours in aid of the Meningitis Trust.

S2 pupils from Doon Academy took to the ocean waves in May 2009, crewing up the Alba explorer on a voyage from Largs to Oban.

Kids at Logan primary learned to walk like an Egyptian... and dance and sing when the Scottish Opera stopped by in May 2009. The pupils had a fantastic day during their ‘Sands of Time’ performance and dressed up as explorers, Assyrians and Egyptians.
