A man has died following a one-car crash on the A76 between Mauchline and Auchinleck on Monday evening (May 20).
Police closed off a section of the road close to the B713 Catrine junction late last night.
The road was closed until just after 9.30am this morning, while emergency services attended the scene.
A 43-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Around 10.15pm, police received a report of a one-vehicle crash involving a blue Ford Fiesta Zetec, which had left the roadway and collided with a tree.
Sergeant Martin Cunningham, of Irvine Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this difficult time.
“Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing and we are appealing for anyone who was in the area, and who witnessed the crash, to please get in touch.
“I would also appeal to anyone who was driving in the area and who may have dashcam footage to contact us.
“If you believe you can assist our enquiries, please call 101, quoting incident 4200 of 20 May, 2024.”
