A man has died following a motorcycle crash between Mauchline and Kilmarnock last night (May 20).
A section of the A76 near Crosshands had been closed for around eight hours, between 7pm and 3am while emergency services attended the scene.
The incident happened around 6.55pm and involved a blue Yamaha YZF-R6 motorcycle.
The 34-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are appealing for anyone with any information about the incident to come forward.
Sergeant Martin Cunningham, of Irvine Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who has died and our enquiries into the circumstances of what happened are ongoing.
“I am appealing to anyone who saw what happened and anyone driving in the area who has dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation to please get in touch.”
