A woman who allegedly repeatedly jumped on and kicked a man's head claims she acted in 'self defence'.
Lynn Allan is alleged to assaulted a female as well as a man in Westland Drive, New Cumnock on February 5 last year.
The 43-year-old is alleged to have assaulted a woman named in the charge, seizing hold of her by the hair and then pulling her to the ground.
She then allegedly assaulted the male by repeatedly punching and kicking him on the head and body.
After allegedly causing him to fall and strike his head against a radiator, it is claimed she then repeatedly kicked and jumped on his head as he lay on the ground and then lied on top of him.
The charge states this was all to his severe injury, permanent disfigurement and permanent impairment.
Defence solicitor Steven Maxwell told Sheriff Shirley Foran that his client pleaded not guilty to the charge, adding Ms Allan would be using the special defence of self defence, at a first diet pre-trial hearing at Ayr Sheriff Court for last Wednesday [May 15].
Bail was continued and Ms Allan, of Robertson Road, Kelloholm, will return to face the charges at a later date.
All accused persons reported in the Chronicle are considered innocent unless later admit or found guilty.
