A Cumnock man broke into his former partner's home, assaulted her new boyfriend and threatened to kill the couple while brandishing a bottle.
James Cockburn pleaded guilty to the ancient Scottish charge of Hamesucken - violent housebreaking - and assault to injury after forcing entry to the house at Bryce Avenue, Logan, on February 12 last year.
The 30-year-old attempted to strike the male victim with a glass bottle and did repeatedly punch and kick him on the head and body to his injury.
He admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner repeatedly shouting swearing and making threats of violence to his former partner and man.
Procurator fiscal depute Chris Munro said: "The street was quiet with no pedestrian or vehicle traffic. The locus is the home address of the complainer.
"The complainer and the accused were previously in a relationship ending January 2023.
"At 8.30am she was with her new partner in their home address in bedroom and heard a loud bang but couldn't see anything.
"They then heard a second loud bang while the accused kicked a panel PCV door. The accused then entered the property.
"He went up stairs shouting 'I'm going to kill you' and 'I'm going to stab you both'.
"He [complainer] left bedroom and saw the accused with a bottle. He went back and closed the door.
"The accused entered the bedroom attempted to strike him with a bottle. He attacked the [male] witness punching and kicking him.
"Both were shouting for him to leave the property and he then left shouting and swearing at both witnesses.
"Police attended and the accused was arrested and processed in the usual manner. He made no reply when he was cautioned and charged.
"Injuries were photographed by officers and included a cut to his forehead and nose.
Defence solicitor Robert Logan said there was personal background to the case and there were concerns about family members, which was shared by social work.
He added: "He was out that night. His route took him past their house and he lost control of himself."
Sheriff Shirley Foran deferred sentence for criminal justice social work reports.
Bail was continued for Cockburn, of Kier Hardie Hill, Cumnock, and he will return to court at a later date.
