Plans for a new housing development on the border of East and South Ayrshire have been refused by councillors.
Donna Kennedy Architecture and Design submitted plans to East Ayrshire Council (EAC) seeking permission to build three new homes at Purclewan Mill, between Dalrymple and Hollybush.
Plans said that the homes would be an extension of the existing cluster of homes in the area.
The proposals received heavy public backlash, with 18 public objections being submitted against the plans.
A previous application to develop the site had been turned down by the same committee in April 2023.
Despite the heavy backlash, East Ayrshire Council's planning committee had been recommended to approve plans for the three new homes.
A decision was originally due to be made at a planning committee in March.
However, it was decided that a visit to the site of plans would be carried out before a decision would reached.
Councillors held a site visit on Monday, April 15 before returning to make their decision at a planning committee on Friday, April 19.
A motion by councillor Hogg, seconded by Cllr Filson, was passed by six voted to three for the plans to be refused.
Cllr Hogg cited issues with the ground's involvement in the Local Development Plan 2, saying that area is agricultural and not cited for building.
