A busy road near Auchinleck is set to be faced with two weekend closures from this month.

The Ayrshire Roads Alliance (ARA), which carries out road work on behalf of East Ayrshire Council, will undertake resurfacing work on the Barony Road.

A length of around 700 metres of road will be resurfaced, forcing closures in both directions.

The closure is due to be in place from 8am on Saturday, April 27 until 8pm on Sunday, April 28, and then again from 8am on Saturday, May 4 until 8pm on Sunday, May 5.

ARA says the days and times of the works may be dependent upon the weather conditions but the order will be implemented only when the appropriate signs are displayed.

An alternative route will be signed via:

  • B7036 Barony Road turning left on to C62 Pennylands Road
  • Turning left on to B7083 Mauchline Road
  • Take the first exit from Templeton Roundabout on to A76 to Dettingen Roundabout
  • Take the third exit on to A70 towards Ochiltree before re-joining the B7036 and vice versa.
