A much-loved East Ayrshire woman has celebrated an incredible milestone birthday.
Sadie Begg, originally from the former village of Darnconner near Auchinleck, reached her 100th year earlier this month.
Described as a "wee gem", staff at Dalmellington Care Centre, where Sadie now lives, had put out a plea for as many people as possible to send Sadie as many cards as possible for her momentous celebration.
Born in to a family of six, Sadie moved to Logan and has one son and two grandsons, as well as lots of extended family.
Provost Jim Todd and Councillor Elaine Stewart presented her with a gift from East Ayrshire Council, and Deputy Lieutenant Lady Marguerite Hunter Blair handed over a telegram from the King and Queen Consort.
Rae Murphy, general manager at Dalmellington Care Centre said: "Sadie is a wee gem.
"She worked in Falmers in Cumnock and other jobs post war.
"The secret in getting to 100 is eating porridge and scotch broth with boiling beef. She has never abused her body and worked hard all her life.
"She has been very happy since she came to live in Dalmellington Care Centre and Tom her son can’t thank us enough for how well she is looked after."
