A man has been arrested in connection with a high-speed chase near Auchinleck on Thursday. 

Part of the incident appeared to be shared on social media and appeared to show police chasing a silver vehicle along the A76 between Auchinleck and Mauchline.

The officer had allegedly signalled for the vehicle to stop but it failed to do so.

Police then tracked the car to Auchinleck's Cameron Drive where it was abandoned.

A 25-year-old man was arrested in connection with this incident and is due to appear at court on Friday in relation to this and other alleged offences.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.45pm on Thursday, 23 February officers signalled for a vehicle to stop on Mauchline Road in Auchinleck.

“The vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit took place.

“The vehicle stopped on Cameron Drive in Auchinleck and was abandoned.

“A 25-year-old man was traced and arrested in connection with the incident.

“He has been charged in connection with road traffic offences and other offences. He is due to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court on Friday, February 23.”
