A LEAD worker for The King's Foundation at Dumfries House is set to play a huge role in the launch of the second part of a school food programme.

The King's Foundation has played another important part in the launch of the second instalment of a schools' food awards driven by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver.

The Good School Food Awards highlight what school food excellence looks like, and celebrates those who have gone the extra mile to make a positive change for children around the UK.

Among the celebrity judges and expert advisors who will offer guidance throughout the journey of nominations and awards is Jacqueline Farrell, education director for The King's Foundation at Dumfries House, who attended the recent launch of the 2024 awards.

Last year, the competition attracted 2,000 nominations across the country and a social and media reach of 91.5 million people.

The awards celebrates the unsung heroes who work with children 190 days of the year and who lay the foundation for children’s health and wellbeing as well as their academic success.

Jamie Oliver is a driving force in The King's Foundation's Food For The Future programme, which aims to encourage secondary school pupils to devise solutions to the global issue of food waste.
