Barr Environmental has revealed why it withdrew plans to build a waste-to-energy facility at the former Killoch colliery site near Ochiltree.
The company officially submitted plans for a "state-of-the-art" energy recovery park at the site back in 2021.

Locals strongly objected to the proposals, with many protests held in the time since.
This week, it was revealed that the plans had been withdrawn.
A spokesperson for Barr Environmental said: "As part of a business review, the decision has been made to explore other options for the site."

The company added that there are currently no plans to resubmit an application to build the facility at the site.
The company spokesperson said: “As part of a business review, we have decided to withdraw our application for the energy recovery plant.
"We will continue to explore other options - outside of waste management - for the use of our Killoch site."
