A man is in a serious condition in hospital following a crash on the A70 last night (Thursday, January 18).
The two-car crash took place between Lugar and Muirkirk, with a section of the road being closed for a period of time.
Emergency services attended the scene after receiving a call shortly before 5pm.
A 64-year-old was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where his injuries were described as "serious."
Police said their enquiries remain ongoing.
A force spokesperson said: “Around 4.55pm on Thursday, January 18, 2024, police were called to a report of a serious road crash involving two cars on the A70 between Lugar and Muirkirk, Cumnock.
“Emergency services attended and a 64-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where medical staff describe his condition as serious.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.”
