A double weather alert has been issued for parts of Ayrshire on Saturday, December 30.
A yellow Met Office warning for rain and snow covers the northern half of the region, including Largs and Cumbrae.
The warning runs from 8am until midnight on Saturday, and could involve disruption to public transport and issues on the roads.
A second yellow warning covers parts of the south and east of the region, including Dalmellington, Girvan and the Cumnock area.
That warning also runs from 8am to midnight, with sleet and snow turning to rain throughout the day.
However, as with Storm Gerrit a few days ago, it's widely expected that even those parts of Ayrshire not covered by the two warning zones aren't likely to escape unscathed.
A Met Office spokesperson said: "An active frontal system will extend northeastwards through Saturday bringing heavy rain to low levels and a period of snow across higher ground to some parts of Scotland.
"Snow accumulations are expected largely above 250-300 metres, where 5 to 10 cm may accumulate.
"At lower levels mostly rain is expected with 15-25 mm, although some snow accumulations may occur for a time over northwestern areas, with perhaps 1 to 3 cm in places.
"Snow will turn to rain in the south in the early afternoon and melting snow over high ground, along with some heavy rain and saturated ground, may lead to some flooding of roads and railways.
"Rain and snow will clear from the south through the afternoon and evening."
