Trains remain off from New Cumnock and Auchinleck train stations after heavy flooding during Storm Gerrit.
ScotRail services on the Glasgow-Carlisle route, via Kilmarnock and Dumfries, were delayed or cancelled on Wednesday morning after flooding forced the closure of the line south of Sanquhar.
The issue is also affecting Sanquhar and Kirkconnel train stations.
Trains remained suspended between Kilmarnock and Dumfries all day on Thursday and were still suspended as this article was published on Friday morning.
Network Rail Scotland said the Dumfries to Kilmarnock line requires "route proving" to ensure it is safe, with the hope of it re-opening later today.
/1 A much improved picture this morning. All lines are now open with the exception of Dumfries - Kilmarnock where we need to undertake some route proving. This is expected to open later this morning. pic.twitter.com/m4weLa1dcC

It's the only stretch of line in Scotland where services affected by Storm Gerrit have not resumed.
Southbound trains from Glasgow Central to Carlisle are not running south of Kilmarnock, while northbound services from Carlisle aren't running beyond Dumfries.
Shuttle buses are operating between Kilmarnock and Dumfries.
ScotRail advised that those looking to travel should find an alternative route or consider travelling later.
