The team at a popular Cumnock chip shop have said they are "proud as punch" after winning a 'highly recommended' accolade at the Scottish Italian Awards.
Nello's, in Townhead Street, came so close to winning the Scotland's Best Fish and Chips award at the recent ceremony.
The chippie, run by Nello Vacca, wife Romana and son Damiano, were celebrating last week after being presented with their official certificate.
The award is voted for by the public - and the Nello's team had no idea they had even been nominated.
Romana said: "It was a real surprise because the public had voted for us online. We didn't know about it.
"The judge came along on a Saturday night to taste our fish supper, then confirmed we were among the finalists.
"We really are as proud as punch. We would like to thank all our customers and the public who voted for us."
