A Cumnock charity hero is being recognised for his outstanding contribution to his community and wider society.
Lochlan Murdoch, who is the face of the Lochlan's Legacy charity that spreads awareness of Type 1 Diabetes, has been selected to receive the British Citizen Youth Award.
Supported by his mum, Lesley, and the great team behind the charity, Lochlan has worked tirelessly over the past few years to teach people about the effect Type 1 Diabetes can have on people and their families.
As part of being selected for the award, Lochlan will get to attend a formal medal ceremony at the Palace of Westminster on October 12.
Mum, Lesley said: "We get to go down on the October 12 for Lochlan to get his medal, so that is another amazing step for him and the charity.
"That'll be really exciting and it's obviously that goes to show how much great work he's done.
"I think there might be only one or two other young people in Scotland who have this, so it shows the magnitude of what he's being awarded.
"He makes us all proud every day and it's always great to see him get recognised for the way he deals with the condition and how he's trying to help others all the time.
"It's not just about this award, but you unfortunatly see and hear things about other youngsters around the area causing trouble at the weekends and things like that, so to get Lochlan engaging with other youngsters is amazing.
"I'm so proud of what he's doing and we're looking forward to what will surely be a great night".

More good news recently came the charity's way as they found out they were successful in applying for a Scotmid Co-op community grant.
This will help go towards helping youth volunteers reach out to other youngsters.
Lochlan's Legacy is also looking out for youth volunteers.
Anyone who is aged 12-18, has Type 1 Diabetes or knows someone who does, and wants to get involved can contact Lesley on Lesley@lochlanslegacy.co.uk to join the charity's brand new programme, T1D and me - Giving Youth a Voice.
