MORE than 300 fantastic Shining Stars put their best foot forward on Saturday night for the Ayrshire Hospice’s annual Shining Star Memory Walk and raised over £30,000, with more donations still to come.

Hospice supporters took to the streets over distances of 13, nine or four-and-a-half miles, taking special steps in memory of loved ones, whilst creating new memories with family and friends.

Local musicians entertained walkers out on route, and neighbours lined the streets to cheer passing walkers.

Local musical duo Ebb & Flow kicked off the evening with some fantastic entertainment, before Kirsty Anderson took to the stage to warm up the walkers before they hit the road at 8pm.

Walkers were ably supported by a fantastic team of hospice staff and a vast group of helpful volunteers, keeping them safe and motivated as they made their way around the routes.

Ayrshire Hospice fundraising manager Ron Swanson said: “It was a fantastic evening at the 2023 Shining Star Memory Walk. Seeing so many supporters walk in memory of a loved one and raise much-needed funds for the Ayrshire Hospice was amazing.”

The Ayrshire Hospice was presented with a cheque before the start of the walk by the principal sponsor Lookers Audi Ayr.

Robin Henderson, the firm's head of business, presented Liz Denovan, director of operations at Ayrshire Hospice, with a cheque for £2,500.

Ron added: “We would like to thank our amazing supporters and sponsors, and in particular our principal sponsor Lookers Audi Ayr – thank you to Robin Henderson and the team.

"It was a memorable evening and a successful fundraising event for the hospice, which would not be possible without our amazing community. Thank you!”
