DRIVERS are being warned of four weekend closures of a section of the A70 in East Ayrshire.
The Ayrshire Roads Alliance (ARA), on behalf of East Ayrshire Council, will be carrying out further bridge repair work on the Burnock Bridge in Ochiltree.
Resurfacing work will also be carried out during these planned closures.
Work on the bridge initially started in June, with temporary traffic lights being used throughout.
Now there will be periods where the road is fully closed to allow further work to be carried out.
ARA is warning of weekend road closures between the hours of 8am and 5pm on the following dates: September 16-17, September 23-24, September 30-October 1, and October 7-8.
The days and times of the works may be dependent upon the weather conditions but the traffic closure order will be implemented only when the appropriate signs are displayed.
Eastbound traffic will be diverted via the B7036 Barony Road, the C62 and the A76 from the Templeton roundabout to the Dettingen roundabout, with westbound vehicles following the same diversion in reverse.
ARA says that emergency services access will be via the same diversion route, and that access for residents, deliveries and pedestrians outwith the working zone will be maintained.
