Motorists are set to be faced with a 45-mile diversion as work takes place between New Cumnock and Dalmellington next month.
Ayrshire Roads Alliance will be carrying out the work on a section of the B741 road near Dalleagles.
Work is set to begin on Monday, September 11, and last until Friday, October 6.
The days and times of the works may be dependent on the weather, but the order will be implemented when the appropriate signs are displayed.
An alternative route has been set in place via Ayr Road (A713), A77, A70, A76 and vice versa.
A secondary weekend alternative route has been set via Ayr Road (A713), A77, A70, B7036, C62, Mauchline Road, A76 and vice versa.
Emergency service access will not be affected and access for residents, deliveries and pedestriands outside of the working zone will be maintained.
