THREE people have been arrested after police carried out a series of targeted drugs raids in Cumnock.
Officers from the Cumnock & Doon Valley locality policing team executed three search warrants in response to complaints from the public around suspected drug misuse.
And the Chronicle team was on hand to watch the latest raid take place at an address in Cumnock’s Meagher Court on Saturday morning (August 19).
After a team briefing in the Ayr Road police station, a team of officers arrived at the flats, knocked on the door and announced their presence. There was no response.
The team then broke down the door opf a property, where a 31-year-old woman was found inside.
She was shown the warrant while the police team began their search of the property.
Suspected drugs were found inside and the woman has now been reported for alleged possession of Class C drugs.
Sergeant Jason Drury, from Police Scotland in Cumnock, said: “Over the past eight days officers from Cumnock & Doon Valley Locality Policing Team have executed three search warrants in the Cumnock area granted under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
“This is in response to complaints involving drugs misuse and supply within the local area.
“As a result of the activity at a property on Meagher Court, Cumnock, a 31-year-old woman will be reported to the procurator fiscal for alleged possession of a class C drugs.”
“This followed the execution of a sheriff’s search warrant granted under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.
In the first of the three recent raids, the police team raided an address in the town's Emrys Avenue, Cumnock on Friday, August 11.
A search warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act was executed and a 23-year-old man was reported to the procurator fiscal on suspicion of having a class B drug in his possession, and allegedly having on his possession an offensive weapon within a domestic premises.
A 34 year old woman will also be reported to the procurator fiscal for allegedly having on her possession a class B drug.
On Tuesday, August 15, officers attended another address on Meagher Court, Cumnock.
A search warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act was executed and a 45-year-old man was arrested and charged for allegedly being concerned in the possession with intent to supply a Class A Drug.
The man will attend court at a later date.
Sgt Drury said: "We would like to thank the public for highlighting local drug concerns.
"We would encourage the public to notify the police of any suspected drug dealing activity via our reporting platforms, 101, Crimestoppers or the contact us online email platform."
