A POPULAR Cumnock restaurant and takeaway is facing an uncertain future after its owners announced that it's changing hands.

Masala Restaurant on Ayr Road has been a firm favourite in the centre of the town for 17 years.

However, the owners have announced that it's time for the establishment to change hands.

In a short Facebook post, they said: "It is with a deep heart that I am making this announcement. After 17 years of running Masala Restaurant, I have decided to hand over the business to new owners.

"I would like to thank all our customers for their loyalty over the years.

"From me, my family, and all staff, we would like to thank you for making Masala Restaurant a success.

"It has been a pleasure serving you all."

The news was met with sadness from those who have enjoyed the food over the years.

One person commented: "I have enjoyed every meal I've had with you, and your family and staff were all so very friendly and helpful.

"Wishing you and your family all the best. You will be missed."

Another added: "All the best to you and you family Max, we've enjoyed dining with you over the years."

It's not yet known when the change will take effect, or what plans the new owners have for the business or the premises.
