A DONATIONS box has been set up at a community centre in Auchinleck for pre-used school uniform items ahead of an event at the venue later this summer.
The Auchinleck STEP Project is planning to hold a ‘back to school’ event at the Boswell Centre towards the end of the school holidays.
It’s hoped the event – which is due to take place on Thursday, August 10 – will provide a helping hand for people struggling with the cost of kitting out their children for the new school term.
However, the organisers say that people can pop in to the centre any time between now and August 4 to drop off any uniform items – including shirts, trousers, skirts, shoes, jackets and accessories – which their own children have outgrown, in the hope that someone else can get some use out of them.
Anyone who is unable to get along to the Boswell Centre in person can also drop off items at a dedicated trolley set up at Auchinleck’s Tesco supermarket - or send a message to the organiser, ‘Fiona Fifi Loy’, on Facebook, so that she can make arrangements for items to be collected.
