A Cumnock-based company has been selected as only one of 10 in Scotland to be part of a new public sector framework to deliver affordable homes.

Connect Modular, part of The Wee House Group, has been appointed to the LHC Procurement Group’s (LHC) new Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) of new homes (NH3) Framework.

The framework should allow the company to expand its work to a new set of clients and should secure contracts in the future.

Connect Modular's houses are constructed off-site in its Cumnock factory, where they are completed to ceiling height and pre-fitted with kitchens, bathrooms, plumbing and electrics.

The houses are then transported to site and craned into position for the final construction works to be completed.

The four-year framework, which is now live and is worth £1.2 billion, is designed to provide an efficient, value for money procurement route for local authorities, social landlords and other public sector bodies for the development of new build housing projects and associated works.

It's in place to make it easier for clients to work with companies like COnnect Modular, and to give assurances of the quality of work.

The appointment of Connect Modular to the framework is seen as being a major boost for the company, and recognition of its expertise in the industry.

Craig Vesey, business development manager at Connect Modular, said: “We are delighted to be appointed to the LHC NH3 Framework.

Connect Modular said it is well-positioned to capitalise on the growing demand for modular construction.
