A man was taken to hospital after an assault in Auchinleck last week.
The incident happened at around 4pm on Wednesday, June 7.
Eye-witnesses reported seeing police and ambulance crews at a property in Old Avenue.
Police say they were responding to a report of an assault, which led to one man being taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.
Officers say they are now investigating to find out what caused the incident.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland confirmed: “We were called around 4pm on Wednesday, June 7, to a report of an assault in the Old Avenue area of Auchinleck.
“A 48-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson added: “We received a call at 15:47 on Wednesday, June 7 to attend an incident in Auchinleck.
"An ambulance was dispatched to the scene and one patient was transported to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow.”
