East Ayrshire Council (EAC) is set to extend management agreements with a community group to continue the operation of their facilities in Catrine.
The work of Catrine Community Trust is highlighted in a report to EAC’s Cabinet this week, pointing to their efforts during the cost of living crisis and supporting their communities.
Kilmarnock North West Community Partnership is also highlighted in the report.
Councillors will be asked to extend the management arrangements at the A.M. Brown Institute in Catrine until 2024.
Catrine Community Trust have a management agreement with EAC, although this has been agreed on an annual basis in recent years.
The report states: “Catrine Community Trust continue to grow and expand their offer within the AM Brown, including hosting a Community Larder and a warm space in the building as well as facilitating a range of other lets.
“The Property Management Plan notes that the AM Brown Institute requires further investment to bring the building to an acceptable operating standard.
“In order to find a long term solution including the significant external investment required to bring the building up to an acceptable standard a partnership approach has been implemented.
“Representation from East Ayrshire Leisure, Vibrant Communities, Catrine Community Trust and community stakeholders are engaged with the shared aim of regenerating the building.”
The Cabinet will consider the proposal on Wednesday, May 17.
