Angry residents in Auchinleck have said they have been waiting two years for a mound of rubble to be moved away from behind their back gardens.
People living in the Viga Homes development at the Old School Yard say that the mound is causing water to run off into their gardens when it rains.
Maureen Paterson says that when residents moved into their homes, it was agreed that the area behind their gardens would be landscaped.
But Maureen, who moved into her home on the site in 2021, says the mound of muck and rubble lying behind her back fence has been causing issues for her and her neighbours.
The mound was apparently left behind after work on the homes was carried out.
Maureen said that she and her neighbours were told that mound of muck would be removed after they moved in, and that the area would be landscaped.
Two years on, Maureen says, the dirt is still there - but it could be gone very soon according to Viga Homes.
Maureen said: "I was told that there would be a bit at the back of my house that would be landscaped, and they would put a gate there.
"I was a bit dismayed, when I got the keys, to see that in the area behind my back fence, there was a big pile of builder's rubble.
"I was told that it would all be moved, and other people in my street were told the same.
"Because of where the mound of muck is, whenever it rains, the water runs right into my garden and it makes it look an absolute mess - and it's incredibly slippy.
"We're all getting told stuff and we've got to the point that nobody believes it."
Despite Maureen's concerns, Viga Homes have told the Chronicle that they recently spoke to her and have advised that the work could be carried out after Easter.
A Viga representative said: "A representative of the company met with the client a few weeks ago where the issues were discussed.
"The mound that she refers to is located on land owned by another party. However, we have agreed to remove it.
"We have informed her that this will be removed when we are scheduled to complete the road surfacing and open space work to the development, towards the end of May, as agreed with Ayrshire Roads Alliance.
"We are confident that the removal of the mound will resolve the issues from run-off water into gardens.
"We are in the process of organising the works and are due to send a letter to all residents to confirm the start date of the works after Easter."
