A Cumnock-based company have completed the moving of the first homes in a new 'modular' development.
Modules for the first two amenity bungalows have been delivered to the six-home development in Afton Court, Stevenston.
The modules have been built by Connect Modular, part of Cumnock's Wee House Group.
The new development is North Ayrshire Council’s second modular housing project with the company.
Work started on the £1.3 million development, which has received more than £600,000 in Scottish Government funding, in January and is expected to be completed in late summer this year.
The project will deliver modern, energy-efficient homes which will be built using cutting-edge and environmentally-conscious techniques.
And the latest important milestone was reached this week as the modules arrived on site and were craned into place, making up the first two homes in the development.
Richard Reid, acting CEO at Cumnock-based Connect Modular, has been delighted with the company's work to support North Ayrshire Council.
He said: “We’re delighted to have delivered the first two houses at this development for North Ayrshire Council.
"Delivery of the remaining four homes is scheduled over the next few months and we look forward to handing over the houses for occupancy this summer.”
Many locals are enjoying seeing the progress of the affordable development, but no-one more so than Connect Modular's very own junior apprentice, four-year-old, Ellis.
A resident in Stevenston, Ellis visits the site most days with his mum, where he enjoys watching the diggers, tractors and cranes - and was delighted to see the first two homes being craned into position this week.
Adorned with his hard hat and hi-viz vest, Ellis looks forward to progressing to digger driver in the very near future.
Ellis is not the only one happy with the project, with local councillors also pleased with how the development is progressing.
Councillor Tony Gurney, cabinet member for place at North Ayrshire Council, said: “It’s wonderful to see the new homes being erected at Afton Court, bringing further modern and energy-efficient amenity housing to the area.
"The innovative process to build the homes in Connect Modular’s Ayrshire factory setting before being erected on site shows we are embracing new ways to deliver homes for our residents.
"And, by assembling the homes off site, it also means less disruption to neighbours.”
