A POPULAR pub and restaurant in East Ayrshire is continuing to trade despite the appointment of liquidators to the company which previously ran the business.
The latest entries in the 'filing history' for the Sorn Inn Ltd on the Companies House website include the 'appointment of a voluntary liquidator' - David McGinness of French Duncan in Glasgow.
The appointment was made on February 28, though the document confirming the appointment was published online on March 8.
Also published on the same website is on March 8 is notice of a general meeting of the Sorn Inn Ltd, trading as the Sorn Inn, at which two resolutions were passed: one that the company be wound up voluntarily, and one that Mr McGinness be appointed as liquidator of the company.
However, the Sorn Inn is still operating, with the owners stating that the restaurant at the venue is now known as 'Ayrshire On A Plate'.
A company by the name of Ayrshire On A Plate Limited, again according to the Companies House website, was incorporated as a private company, limited by shares, on February 1, 2023.
That company has a registered office address of 35 Main Street, Sorn.
Documents published on the Companies House website list the sole director of both Sorn Inn Limited and Ayrshire On A Plate Limited as Mr David Dunn Miller.
A 'statement of affairs' for Sorn Inn Limited, also published on the same website on March 8, was signed by David Miller on February 15.
The final page of that statement of affairs also includes a list of 'company creditors' for Sorn Inn Ltd, trading as Sorn Inn, with 26 entries listed, totalling more than £187,000 - including David Miller and Karen Miller.
The duo took over the premises around two-and-a-half years ago after a troubled time for the restaurant.
After some issues during Covid, it reopened last year.
However, an unannounced closure last year prompted some criticism from local residents.
The restaurant was then listed for sale at the beginning of this year, before announcing last month that it would be opening its doors again, while still being on the market.
The inn remains listed for sale on Rightmove, with a price tag of £495,000.
A spokesperson for the venue told the Chronicle: "Ayrshire On A Plate is the new restaurant at the Sorn Inn, and yes indeed the new business is open to trade.
"The sale of the property is unaffected as it would be sold with an existing tenant."
