A convicted killer from Ayrshire has had his request for parole denied, according to campaigners.
John Wilson is understood to have appeared before the Scottish Parole Board today (Wednesday March 8) - 14 years after he killed Drongan teen Michelle Stewart in 2008, and one year after his last request was also denied.
The family of Michelle, who was 17 when she was killed, have been campaigning for years now for what they call Michelle's Law, which seeks to put the welfare of victims and their families central in any decision on parole and early release.
Michelle's father, Kenny Stewart, told how he and his family are worried about the day when they could come face-to-face with Michelle's killer.
Kenny said: "We know the day will come when he is released, hopefully that will be a few years yet.
"But when that day does come, there is a chance that he could be released back into Ayr or Prestwick, which seems ludicrous.
"I don't want to be in the supermarket and come face-to-face with him."
Thankfully, for Kenny and the rest of the Stewart family, it seems like that day will not be coming soon.
Sharing a post on the Michelle's Law Facebook page, they said: "John Wilson (aka John Sanken) got refused parole today, however, he can request a review in 8 months."
