A TEENAGER has been arrested following a string of crimes in Auchinleck.
A heavy police presence could be seen at various areas in the village on Wednesday, including in Tesco car park and across from Bridgend Garage on Main Street.
Officers could be seen canvassing the areas and the nearby woods.
A police helicopter was also spotted flying over Auchinleck as well as parts of Cumnock.
Locals in Auchinleck had this week voiced their concerns on social media regarding alleged attempted break-ins at homes in the area.
It's not yet known if these incidents are linked to tonight's arrest.
Despite the arrest of a 17-year-old male, a helicopter could still be seen circling parts on Auchinleck late into this evening.
Police have not yet confirmed if another person is involved with these incidents.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "On Wednesday, 1 March, 2023, we were called to reports of break-ins and thefts in Auchinleck.
"A 17-year-old male youth has been arrested in connection with the break-ins and enquiries are ongoing."
