A MAUCHLINE man is facing several charges of assault following a disturbance at a leisure complex last month.
Twenty-year-old Arun Cooper is accused of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing and uttering threats of violence in Grange Street, Kilmarnock on January 21 this year.
The eight charges include six of alleged assault at The Garage in the same street.
Mr Cooper is said to have assaulted a man by attempting to punch and kick him on the body and placed his head in a chokehold to his injury.
He also allegedly assaulted a woman by attempting to punch and kick her on the body.
He is accused of assaulting four other men as well as resisting, obstructing or hindering three police constables by struggling with them.
The accused, of Lock Road, pleaded not guilty to all eight charges.
He will return to Kilmarnock Sheriff Court at the end of May for trial. He was granted bail in the meantime and ordered not to enter Grange Street in Kilmarnock where the alleged offences took place.
