Cumnock’s Yipworld are running a six-week youth work course starting later this month.
Suitable for young people aged from 16 to 25, the course will run every Monday from January 23 from 4-5pm.
Week one of the course covers an introduction to Yipworld and its services, week two looks at the role and scope of a youth worker and types of youth work, and week three concentrates on PVG (protection of vulnerable groups) and health and safety requirements.
The final three weeks of the course will focus on planning a youth work activity, a youth work placement and, in the final week, the presentation of certificates.
A total of 15 places are available. Completion of the course will give each participant with the opportunity to be placed on Yipworld’s ‘bank’ register or for sessional work. Full attendance will be expected.
