The Barony Campus has been closed today (Monday, December 19) due to ongoing water and heating issues, East Ayrshire Council has confirmed.
Freezing temperatures last week saw issues across the area, with many residents in Cumnock being left without water, meaning the town hall had to be opened as a safe space.
Schools in the area also felt the effects, with The Barony Campus's own Lochnorris Primary being forced to close early last week due to water and heating issues.
Logan Primary did not open at all last Tuesday, due to water supply issues, with Auchinleck Primary also closing early.
The whole Barony Campus is now being affected, including Robert Burns Academy, Hillside ASN, and Lochnorris Primary School and Supported Learning Centre and Early Childhood Centre.
The £68 million campus officially opened to pupils in October 2020, and was said to be state-of-the-art.
East Ayrshire Council have said that parents are being notified about the school's closure.
Drongan Primary School and ECC have also been closed as a result of water and heating issues.
Scottish Water say reports of burst pipes have increased by between 100 per cent and 150 per cent – including in Ayrshire, Glasgow, South Lanarkshire, West Lothian and Stirling – although the number is likely to be higher.
The water supplier said its network has seen demand for an additional 100 'mega litres' since Thursday as a result of broken pipes.
