An old school photo has been submitted to the Cumnock Chronicle appearing to show a class from the 1950s.
The photo shows a class from the late 1950s from Cumnock Academy.
At this time, the Academy was located on Barrhill Road - what is now the former Greenmill Primary school.
According to Cumnock History Group, the much-anticipated new Academy was officially opened on December 17, 1969 by Thomas McIntyre, Chair of Ayr County Council Education Committee and by this time the initial budget of £150,000 had risen to over £1 million.
This golden picture was sent in to us by Charles (Chick) Robertson, but Chick needs some help filling in the blanks of the pupils in the photo.
Chick has identified:
- Row 1 Left to right; Jim Muir, Robert Wilson, Michael Auld, Billy Graham, Alec Hardie, Bertie Bell, Andrew Ross.
- Row 2 Left to right; Duncan Cameron, Billy McCartney, Dougie Struthers, (?), Gray McMillian, David Affleck, Billy Jolly, Chick Robertson, George Fleming.
- Row 3 Left to right; Jenny Campbell, Quinton Young, May Goodwin, Betty Anderson, Dorothy Healey, Sheena Hodge, Joyce McNeish, Matthew Grimes, Ann Johnstone.
- Row 4 Left to right; Evelyn Bell, Beth Wilson, Doreen Guthrie, Irene Purdie,(?), McCllelland, Catherine Neil, (?), Betty McFarlane, (?), Margaret Murdoch.

Can you spot anyone who is missing?
