A MUSIC festival in Mauchline has raised more than £4,500 for a festive appeal to help East Ayrshire children – though one couple at the event had even more reason to smile than most.

TomFest22, held on Saturday, October 15, featured a day-long programme of live music, dance and craic at the Mauchline Kilmarnock Supporters Club.

Opened by East Ayrshire’s Provost, Jim Todd, the line-up included The Dead Flowers, Wildcard, Dirty Jewels, Trunk Monkey, Memphis, Escapade, Colin Angus Studio 5 and the Burlesque Chair Dancers Scotland group.

The day, though proved particularly memorable for Richard Cannon and Leanne Crozier after Richard got down on one knee on the dance floor, with a capacity crowd watching on, and popped the question – and got the answer he was hoping for!

Festival organiser Tom Kerr, who presented a cheque for £4,800 to the appeal’s co-ordinator, Christine Oliver, afterwards, said: “The event was a huge success.

“I asked you to be generous and you guys were and then some, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

“250 of you had a rocking time and two of you got engaged.

“TomFest would like to congratulate Richard and Leanne on their future marriage – hope you guys have a long and happy life together. It was an amazing moment!”
