RESIDENTS in Netherthird have blasted “inconsiderate” drivers for blocking roads and pavements with their “shoddy parking skills”.
Parking along Craigens Road has been a bone of contention for a number of years, although most residents are now in agreement that more can be internally for people to solve the issue themselves.
The problem usually stems from cars taking up large chunks of the roads or pavements waiting for kids to be dropped off from the school bus.
Netherthird and District Community Council have attempted to solve the issue by releasing numerous social media posts raising awareness of concerns and appealing for a better standard of driving.
The most recent from August 1 said: “Pavements are for people, not parking.
“There is adequate parking in our community without the need to cause an obstruction to pedestrians by parking on pavements.
“Please stop it!”
Residents are now concerned that the looming return of kids to school will see the return of the worst of the issues on the roads.
One said: “It’s terrible when you’re trying to get to the bus to get your kids off.
“It was even more concerning that there were still people showing off their shoddy parking skills during the summer holidays.
“It’s ridiculous when you see cars on the pavements. What is someone with a pram or a wheelchair supposed to do?
“People really do need to take more responsibility for themselves and respect others and realise it’s not all about the,
“I’m sure the council and traffic wardens and stuff are doing all they can, so people just need to have a bit more respect, because it’s inconsiderate and there’s no excuse for it.”
