A DRUNK man was arrested for calling cops ‘c***s’ and ‘scum’ over the phone to his friend – after the officers kindly offered him a lift home from Enterkine House.
Jordon Anderson, 28, pleaded guilty to threatening and abusive behaviour during the journey in the back of a police car – after being offered a lift from the hotel when staff ejected him while not wishing to make a formal complaint.
The procurator fiscal depute told Ayr Sheriff Court: “At 10.30pm on February 19 police were contacted. Staff did not make a complaint – but did not wish the individual to come back in. Police offered the accused a lift home.
“At around 11.20pm police were travelling on the B742towards Dalrymple when the accused phoned a friend. He called the police ‘c***s’, ‘scum’ and ‘b******s’
“He was warned in relation to the behaviour, but continued shouting ‘f*** the scum police’ and ‘you two are w*****s’.”
Police arrested him under section 38. He continued shouting and swearing and was taken to Kilmarnock Police Office where he made no reply to being cautioned and charged.
Mr Anderson’s defence solicitor said his client was in full time employment as a ground worker and had been drinking “far too much” all day.
He added: “Police were actually doing him a favour” – to which Sheriff Shirley Foran interjected, adding “they were”, before continuing: “then he started making derogatory comments”.
The solicitor added it was a “classic example” of someone “talking their way into being arrested”.
Anderson, of Arran View, Dunure was fined £300 – discounted from £400 due to his guilty plea – plus a £20 victim surcharge payment.
Sheriff Foran adding she hope he would take reflection on the level of embarrassment from the behaviour.
