SIX fire engines were called out to a wildfire in a field near Dalmellington last night.
Firefighters spent almost six hours tackling the grass blaze near Castle Croft on Thursday, April 28.
Six engines attennded the scene just after 3.30pm, and the blaze had been extinguished by around 9.30pm.
It comes just a week after fire crews also tackled a wildfire in Patna, just hours after fire chiefs had warned of an 'extreme' risk of wildfires developing in Ayrshire.

The fire was believed to be have been seen from as far away as Bellsbank, with plumes of smoke filling the sky.
Nearby houses were alerted about the fire, but there was believed to be no immediate danger to warrant evacuating the houses.
Part of Mainshill is fenced off to form a community orchard comprising native trees and fruit trees.
One eyewitness said: "It looked at one point as if the fire was going to come all the way down the hill towards the first row of houses.
"The fire team were brilliant with us all because they were making sure nobody panicked or got upset.
"It's quite scary to see something like so close to your home, so it shows how careful we all need to be."
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson confirmed: “We were alerted at 3.37pm on Thursday, April 28 to reports of a grassfire near Castle Croft, Dalmellington.
“Operations control immediately mobilised six fire engines to the location and firefighters extinguished the fire.
“Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”
