Auchinleck Talbot boss Tommy Sloan says he’s satisfied at coming away with a point from their top of the table clash with Darvel on Monday night.
However, the gaffer feels his team had plenty of chances in the second half to grab all three points.
The draw keeps Talbot three points ahead of their hosts on Monday – who are also their nearest challengers – after Sloan’s men twice came from behind twice to secure the draw.
Darvel took the lead after 20 minutes, but the lead did not last long as Keir Samson quickly levelled.
The home side regained the lead with a well-worked goal on 40 minutes, and Talbot had a superb stop from their heroic keeper Andy Leishman to thank to prevent Darvel going 3-1 up.
Shortly after that, Dwayne Hyslop equalised for the Beechwood Park side.
The draw means that both teams’ dreams of moving up through the pyramid are still alive.
After the match, Sloan reflected on a “decent result” and said he is over the moon with his players’ efforts in a run of matches which will see them play 10 matches in April.
Sloan said: “Both teams had chances and I think we certainly had plenty of them in the second half.
“We would’ve liked to have won the game, but we’ve taken a point from a tough ground, so we’ll take that and move on to another tough game on Wednesday.”
It’s another quick turnaround for Talbot, who reached the final of the Scottish Junior Cup at the weekend thanks to a 2-1 win over Rob Roy, and who travel to Hurlford tonight (Wednesday) before a trip to Benburb on Saturday.
Sloan added: “We’ve come off the back of a tough semi-final on Saturday as well, so I can’t really ask for any more from the boys just now.
“We might have a few injury niggles, but that’s what’s going to happen when you’re playing so many games in a short space of time.”
The manager added: “I’m certainly pleased enough with the game, the effort was fantastic, but we’re going to need that in every match now, that’s the important thing for us now.”
