Auchinleck Talbot manager, Tommy Sloan said he was delighted with his team’s win, following tough conditions and last week’s cup disappointment.
Talbot were coming off the back of their Scottish Cup exit to Hearts last weekend, and fell behind in their trip to Beith at the weekend.
However, a double from Keir Samson ensured that Talbot secured the three points and kept the pressure on league leaders Pollok, who have played five more games than Talbot.
After the match Sloan said: “It was tough tough conditions and almost bordered on the game getting called off. That, coupled with the feeling that we didn’t do ourselves justice last weekend made this an extremely dangerous match.
“I thought the boys did ever so well after going behind, and it was two great finishes from Keir Samson to get us the win”.
The fixture pile-up means Talbot have a lot of midweek games coming up, and it’s something Sloan says his side will have to get on with.
He added: “It’s not easy seeing all the games we have in hand. I’d rather be in Pollok’s position with the points on the boards, but it’s something we’ll have to deal with”.
