Cumnock Juniors boss Brian McGinty said he was delighted with his side’s attitude after running out 3-1 winners against Rossvale at the weekend.
Cumnock had the better of the chances in the first half, with a header crashing off the crossbar, and an effort from striker Osadolor flashing wide.
Nothing could separate the sides as the game entered half time goalless.
Cumnock piled on the pressure at the start of the second half and were awarded a penalty shortly after the interval.
Jordan Moore stepped up to fire the home side ahead. Smart Osadolor then made it two with a cool finish after being put through one-on-one with the goalkeeper, after a marginal offside decision went in the striker’s favour.
The goals continued as Rossvale pulled one back with a smart finish from the edge of the box, after another tight call.
Smart Osalodor then rose to head/shoulder the ball into the net for his 10th goal of the season and to re-establish Cumnock’s two-goal lead.
The goals ended there and Cumnock held on for all three points, which saw them climb to 11th in West of Scotland Football League Premier Division table.
Nock gaffer McGinty was delighted with how the players reacted to Rossvale getting back into the game, and believes his side could have finished with an even healthier scoreline.
He said: “If we had a bit more quality and took some of our chances then we could’ve and should’ve won the game a bit more comfortably, but it’s all about winning games at this stage of the season.
“The conditions were actually okay because we tried to keep the ball down as much as we could.
“The boys reacted well to Rossvale getting back into the game, during a crazy few minutes in the game, but I felt we took control after that and we looked a lot more comfortable.
“All the boys have done well since I’ve been in and they’re starting to take on the instructions now.
“The biggest challenge is now to find that consistency in our performances.”
