A body was pulled from the River Ayr near Catrine this morning [December 28].
Emergency services were alerted after the body of a man was found in water between Catrine and Mauchline, at Howford Bridge, shortly before 9am on Tuesday.
A large police presence including a helicopter has been seen circulating the wider area around Ochiltree and Mauchline.
Police are treating the man's death as unexplained, though it is believed there are no suspicious circumstances.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 8.45 am on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, police received a report a man's body had been found in the River Ayr, Catrine, near Mauchline.
"Emergency services attended and the man has been recovered from the water. The death is being treated as unexplained, however, there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances. Enquiries are ongoing."
