Auchinleck Community Shed is celebrating after being awarded more than £2,000 in funding from The National Lottery Community Fund.
The Shed will use their funding to install solar panels and a wind turbine to reduce their carbon footprint and make the group sustainable in the longer term.
The new funding will also help to support local people by growing in the community, for the community at reasonable prices, tackling poverty and supplying the needy ACTIVE members with free produce for themselves.
The Shed aims to combat social isolation and mental health issues by being in the great outdoors.
Tom Andrews, group secretary, said: “Thanks to National Lottery players, this grant means that we can move forward with our project without the financial burden of utility bills and therefore invest in more garden enhancements and equipment.
“This will make a big difference to people’s lives.”
National Lottery players raise more than £30 million a week for good causes across the UK. The National Lottery Community Fund distributes a share of this to projects to support people and communities to prosper and thrive.
