Dalmellington Band have been continuing their mission to give back this Christmas by providing goods to charity and gift care packages to care homes.
On their return to banding in August this year, members understood the need to connect with the community and so decided to support various groups with a project entitled ‘Dalmellington Band Gives Back This Christmas’.
The group provided various toys, books, clothes and gifts to charities The Zone, The Carers Centre and Women’s Aid to help families in need in the Doon Valley area.
Members also gifted care packages to the residents of the three care homes in Dalmellington.
Finally, the band had arranged to run a free concert for residents with raffles and donations being taken and split between Ayrshire Hospice, MND and Muscular Dystrophy UK.
Sadly, due to Covid restrictions, the band have taken the difficult decision to postpone this.
However, they will be soldering on with this part of the project in 2022 when it is safe to do so.
A band spokesperson said: “It is a real privilege for the band to help support and give back to our community.
“Unfortunately we had to make the call [on the concert] on Tuesday following the First Minister’s announcement.
“The committee are just working on rescheduled plans so although there’s nothing arranged yet, we hope to release details soon.
“We would like to wish all of our supporters a Merry Christmas.”
