A TEENAGE girl has died from Covid-19 in East Ayrshire, according to the National Records of Scotland (NRS).
The girl, aged between 15 and 19, died last week with coronavirus cited as the underlying cause of death.
Scotland has now recorded seven instances of a person under the age of 20 dying from the illness – the girls’ death is also the third instance of someone in that age bracket dying without having an underlying health condition.
Last week two men in their late 30s were also amongst the 133 people to pass away due to the virus.
The official Covid-19 death toll in Scotland now stands at 9249.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Government said: “Every death during this pandemic is a tragedy and our thoughts and condolences are with this person’s family.”
