Vandals struck a blow to Cumnock bus station last week - smashing up a glass panel before fleeing the scene.
On the evening of Friday, September 17, a large panel was shattered after being subject to force, leaving one resident and Community Councillor dismayed about the goings-on at the bus station which he says are "getting really out of control".
It is believed that the panel was struck just feet away from CCTV cameras, and will cost "a fortune" to replace.
Michael Mcpake, Cumnock Community Councillor, said: "Is this the shape of things to come?
"One of the large glass panels has been shattered just feet away from an overhead cctv camera... these panels are designed not to break into sharp shards, but to shatter and hold together to avoid injury, they cost a fortune to replace and it could take ages to do so.
"Someone who was there last night must know who done it, and also if the cctv camera was working, footage might be available of the incident.
"It's getting really out of control down at the bus station and square, the police can't be everywhere at once, that's unfortunate and understandable. So if you know who done this, do the right thing and speak up. You don't have to worry about being named, you don't have to give your name to the police."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 10.45pm on Friday, 17 September, we received a report of vandalism in Bank Lane Cumnock.
"Enquiries are ongoing into this report."
