Sorn Community Council have organised a post-lockdown fun day and are encouraging everyone in the village to come along.
The event will take place on August 7 at Sorn football field and will run from 11am-3pm.
Entry is free of charge.
The event will comprise of a children’s fancy dress parade which will kick off at 11am and include prizes for the lucky winners.
There will be an array of bouncy castles – also free of charge – as well as a display of vintage vehicles including police cars, motorcycles and tractors.
For those into their animals and wildlife, a display of Birds of Prey by KG HAWKS will also be present on the day. People will be able to have their photograph taken with these beautiful birds at a small charge. At 12.30pm there will be organised children’s games so feel free to bring your pets along as there will be a competition after the games with even more prizes to be won.
The Sorn Inn “Ayrshire on a Plate” will provide a burger stall with hot dogs and pizza and Wayne’s Ice cream Van will be on hand if you fancy a tasty dessert afterwards.
George Mabon will be there to show you how to make his award winning walking sticks and Claire Mabon of Pet Portraits will stop by as well as award-winning artist Elaine Johnston.
Woodlands Trust will be there alongside Corrie Mains award-winning eggs, Ballochmyle award-winning cheese and Mauchline Hardwood.
As this is the 100th anniversary of the Sorn Rural, there will be an array of handmade crafts.
If you fancy a refreshment, take a five minute walk along Main Street and enjoy the beer garden at the Sorn Inn and try one of their beers and cocktails.
The event will be marshalled by Scottish Police Young Volunteers and First Aid will be provided by St John’s Ambulance. There will also be portaloos.
