P6/7 pupils at Dalmellington PS have been taking part in a sponsored Skipathon for the British Heart Foundation which has raised an incredible £267 so far.
Claire Stevenson, Principal Teacher, said the kids have loved skipping this year as it’s been great to motivate and improve fitness, particularly with the restrictions. Students chose to skip for three hours over Tuesday, May 4, Wednesday 5 and Friday 7 to raise as much money as they could.
On the experience, pupil Logan said: “I have learned new skipping moves such as exits and scissors” while Kallie commented, “”I think this will be so good for the British Heart Foundation as they can help more people with heart issues.”
Kayleigh had a blast, too, saying: “”I learned to skip for longer. It has been fun skipping” and Brodie said: “We had so much fun, but it was tiring!”
Giving his view, Kai said: “I think it is good exercise and skipping is fun. It is very good for mindfulness and relaxing” with Lexi adding, “”Skipping three hours in three days has been tiring but it has taught me to be determined and not to give up.”
Mathew gave the final word, saying: “I personally have enjoyed being outside with my friends. I have learned some brand new moves that are quite fancy as well as getting better at skipping for a long period of time.”
Well done to all pupils.
